I have also been protesting - not the objective, but the fairness of collecting charges for plastic bag by retailers - especially for packaged items like apparels - If one law (PCRO) mandates that it should be packed, another regulation cannot require a citizen to cough up money for the plastic bag, which is supposed to be wrapper for a suit or shirt - which can't be sold in naked form? Now look at the Pune Municipal Corporation requiring Retailers to charge Rs.15 per plastic bag, in the name of discouraging use of plastic ? In the same spirit can they stop every industry using plastics - Right from Gutka every thing is sold plastics?
Moot question is how does the price collected by the retailers for the bags accounted for and where does the profit out of exorbitant price reach out - Is there a mechanism to account for this and use for environment protection - if the regulatgory really care for this? see the representation by RAI - of course RAI's representation is in good spirits and in support of the citizens
