Joining time government service

How long can I delay joining government service in order to pursue post graduate studies?

I was selected as GDMO by UPSC Combined Medical Services 2011 & recommended for posting by UPSC CMS 2011(call letter awaited). In the mean time, I  got selected for MD in AIIMS. Can I extend my joining time by three years so that I can complete my PG course?

I don't think they will give you time for three years however requesting for extension of time is not a crime or sin. However you got a good opportunity for your PG in AIMS hence better give priority to your PG after completion of your PG you may get lot of opportunities.

Best of luck - kamesh

Learned Mr.Kameswarao has given valuable advice. Kindly follow it.

You have been able to secure admission in the premier and reputed institute of the country, which has conducted some of the landmark research and produced one of the very bets doctors. Once in the institute you may take a call and may decide of super specialization e.g. DM/M.ch, and even further. You shall get opportunities and exposure for furthering your career, and thus may get remuneration beyond expectation.

The job offered to you is as per your current qualification. You may enquire about the education policy of the employer. There may be a scope of study leave, sponsorship etc after a stipulated time. And accordingly you may still be eligible to appear for the entrance exam after the number of years as specified in policy of the prospective employer. Like this time, you may be able to crack the entrance time again. Keep preparing.

Please assess all options and take a qualified decision.

study leave is not admissible in Govt organisation before completion of 5 years of service. No Govt deptt can afford to extent him until completion of post granduration.

He has just psed examination.  There will be lot more formalities before actual offer comes to his doorsteps. Each stage will be completed till a last date.
