GURGAON: A woman has been sentenced to life imprisonmentfor murdering her husband in July 2007. Her paramour and two others were also sentenced to life. Neeti Agarwal, 37, and her paramour, Nandlal, 40, had conspired to kill Aditya, who had belonged to a royal family of Pilibhit in UP. The prosecution argued that the duo had murdered the victim to usurp his property and business. The victim’s family owned several sugar mills in UP.
The murder had taken place in July 2007. The police investigation revealed that the victim was called by his wife, Neeti, who was living in Silver Oak Apartments of Gurgaon. Neeti and Aditya were married for over 16 years and had two children. The couple had a strained relationship because of Neeti’s illicit relationship with Nandlal who worked as cook in the house. In early 2007, the couple had moved court seeking divorce by mutual consent.
After filing the divorce case, Neeti moved to Gurgaon along with Nandlal. Nandlal had been working in the victim’s house in Pilibhit for over nine years. As per the police’s probe, the duo called the victim to their Gurgaon house for finalizing the divorce case. But on the fateful night, he was brutally murdered and his body was buried near Bhairot village in Rajasthan. The accused had taken the help of two others, Radheysham and Jile Singh, who were cab drivers.
After murdering Aditya, the duo took the body in a car and another accomplice drove the victim’s car to Gwalior where he set the care on fire. The police painstakingly linked the chain of events before swooping down on Neeti and Nandlal. The victim’s lawyer, Vishal Gupta, said that involvement of the victim’s wife and her paramour was clear from Day 1 of the incident. “The victim was called to Gurgaon for a negotiation, deliberately by his wife and Nandlal. After he left from his native place, he disappeared. The victim’s family filed a police complaint,” said Gupta. The police exhumed the body of the victim and also tracked down the burnt car.
