My father passed away in Kerala in 1990 leaving a landed property with a house. Me and my mother then moved to Chennai and presently stay there. Recently I wanted to sell the property and found out that a Legal Heir Certificate is required. On approching the Village Office in Kerala I was asked to produce a ration card which I cannot do since it was already transferred to Chennai. My queries are:
1. What other document can I prodcue instead of a ration card for procuring the legal heir apart from the death certificate which I have?
2. Can I apply for a Succession Certificate and use it to sell the property.
