Name change and property selling

Hi,

My wife and I are about to purchase a flat in Mumbai by taking a housing loan. The agreement copy will have her name with her maternal surname. She will however be changing her surname to my family name later.

For changing the surname we will be following the procedure and will be keep all documents with us. I wanted to inquire if there would be any problem if I have to sell the flat in the future.

Does any problem arise while trying to sell the flat in an event that my wife has changed her surname post marriage but has all documents necessary to authenticate the name change?

Kindly advise.

Regards.

sir, it is a common practice everywhere that females change their surnames after marriage so there should not be any problem

Thank you. Just wanted to be sure that it does not cause a problem if you want to sell the property in the future and there is a name change.

Was told that there could be a problem so wanted to be extremely sure.

As you are sure that she will be changing her maiden name after marriage, why don't you make the deed on her changed name itself after effecting the name change to avoid the problems, that may arise in the future in this regard.
