As per your query!

According to section 279 of Indian penal code, Whoever drives any vehicle, or rides, on any public way in a manner so rash or negligent as to endanger human life, or to be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person, shall be punished with imprisonment of either descripttion for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.

IPC 279 duly prescribes punishment to whosoever commits the offence of rash driving in a public way. This section makes a person liable to imprisonment for 6 months or can make him pay a fine of Rs. 1000. Depending on the nature and gravity of the offence, punishment may include imprisonment as well as a fine.

The offence committed under this section is bailable and cognizable which is triable by any Magistrate.

Hope it is useful!
