Recording of statement in 498a case via mail

Can an investigation officer record/accept statement of the accused via mail or video call in a 498a case?

Generally statement of accused shall be recorded in police station / Mahila Thana, where case is under investigation.

what if the accused request for recording the statement via video call giving excuse of covid for not being able to travel. Can this excuse be considered now and is there any provision to record the statement via video call in 498a?

yes, on 10rupees stamps, notary affidavit of statement can be sent via registered post. keep copy of same with registry recipt for evidence if investigating officer doesnt entertain the same
