There is no such limitation period for information under RTI Act. Sec. 8 (3) is misconception and not interpreted by some cpios in an incorrect manner, even after CIC has clarified the issue. those information that was kept for confidential, after 20 years becomes a public record. (Ex: Netaji papers, Emergency declaration, etc) If the record is available, PIO must provide such a certified copy. there is a retention period for each and every record. in all probability, you may get it as such applications are permanent in nature and must have been digitalized. The expenses for efforts may cost you maximum R.32/-, but when there are no alternates left, RTI is best, cheapest, most effective, within a time frame road map.
