I purchased a residential flat in Pune in June 2006. The builder only executed an agreement to sale, whicih was registered, and later provided me a copy of possession letter on a stamp paper. No sale deed has been executed and on enquiry with the builder, I was told that there is no provision of executing a sale deed with a buyer. i want to understand the correction of this statement and thereby decide if i should pursue executing a sale deed?
If a sale deed is not needed, then in its absence what documents establish my ownership on my flat?
