term lawyer and advocate

what is the difference between the term lawyer and advocate. Does only llb passed students who enrol in state bar council are allowed to call himself advocate ? Can a llb passed out student who does not enrol in state bar council due to his full time employment in private sector can call himself advocate. If not then can he call himself a lawyer?
