Third party intervention in criminal state case

1) What is the locus standi of a private pleader/advocate engaged by complainant in a State case(Criminal trial)?

2) Can the private pleader so engaged conduct trial and examine witnesses ?

3) As far as CrPC 301 is concerned the the private pleader can only assist Public Prosecutor but he does not have right of audience. Is this scope expanded in some recent Cr.P.C amendment ?

4) Are the following supreme court rulings still valid in context of CrPC 301:

Thakur Ram v. State of Bihar AIR 1966 SC 911

Shiv Kumar v. Hukam Chand, (1999) 7 SCC 467
