Yogesh ji, Banks usually ask customers to use ATMs to avoid rush during the peak hours. Apart from that a bank where ATM facility is there, and if one wants to withdraw amount from the counter, they will charge service charges. But branches where they dont have ATM counters cannot charge service charges.

Mr.Yokesh, I understnad your feelings. The banks have displyed notice boards to use the ATM for withdrawals upto the limits fixed at the ATMS. It is for thier own convenience and to avoid rush at counters. As Sucitra stated, this is a forewarning that one day they will impose service charges for cash withdrawal at counters. Some private banks have introduced machines for depositing cash and perhaps this too is a modus operandi to levy service charges for remittances at banks. Some banks charge service charges for remittances at non-home branches within the local area..The banking ombudsman, which has to control all these inconveniences to the customer is remaining as a silent spectator .We have carry on with the dictates of the bankjng industry.

Bank Managers of SBI,UBI,Canara Bank,HDFC bank, have pointed out that can not force a customer to withdraw from ATM in place of cash counter, and that there is no charge for withdrawing from cash counter. Banks and bank staff often practice which is not permissible. For example when a customer goes to withdraw amount by cheque, the staff may ask customer to get it passed from officer, while it is not duty of customer at all. Union bank Of India claims RBI has approved cash handling charges if customer deposits more than 1.00 lac in cash in one transaction but declines to give it in writing or display in bank.In response to written complaint for which acknowledgment was obtained Union bank Of India stated he shall deposit cash handling charge in customer's account and pleaded not to press further for a written reply.
Now the whole staff is curteous and renders prompt and better service.
Indus Ind bank made FD of a senior citizen without his consent or prior information, and was not attending properly and the customer was not satisfied. They would at most call someone on phone and tell him FD are created by their H.O. they are awaiting reply. Group of 4 customers submitted letter to the Branch Manager with their signature as witnesses to his everyday suffering an within 4 working days bank manager apologized in writing and resolved matter to the satisfaction of customer.
State Bank of Patiala opened 100 saving accounts of existing customers without their consent or knowledge to meet their targets and later was pressing customers to sign forms claiming the account opened is no frill account with zero balance.Branch Manager and staff had to apologize and later ran away by taking transfer.
Customer usually opens bank account at a convenient location e.g near home or work place and needs to maintain account. Customers who have account in the same bank branch, know each other should support each other in the bank for better services to each other.
It is better to write down complaint and ask for written reply. This may fetch better services.
