Writ petition high court

I filed a writ petition on my service matter in High Court Calcutta, but it did not listed the same for hearing. However there is a subsequent improvement on the matter. Can I withdraw my Writ Petition? In future, I want to file a fresh Writ Petition in the High Court Calcutta praying for a different relief based on the changed circumstance. Please advice me.
