Agreement to sell immovable property

I am the owner of the property. I entered into a sale agreement with a third party. The term of the agreement is that he should complete the sale within one month. It was in 2014. Even now he did not complete the sale. Therefore I sent a letter/notice of calcelaltion.  In the said notice I failed to mention the date of agreement or the details of the property.  I simply mentioned that the agreement to sell between me and you is hereby cancelled.  there is no other agreement of any time between us with regard to any property. Just only one agreement.  He says the notice is defective. please advise. Thanks.
