Change of parents name

I need to get both my parents names changed on my own birth certificate issued in Mumbai Maharashtra. My own name will stay as it is, however the legal names of my parents do not reconcile with the names on their birth certificates. My parents are originally from Goa and their names have shortened versions and also misspelt on my own birth certificate.

What are my options to get this rectified?

Another problem is that I live overseas and my father passed away a few years ago. However, I am in possession of my parents original birth certificates issued from the Goa authority when Goa was under the Portuguese rule. My mother is currently living in Goa.

Please help with some advice.

But Portugeues or Birtishers are no more in India.Better start the procees from Goa department of  Birth and Death registration Office and iron out the differences in name.

I was born in Mumbai and my birth certificate was issued by the (Mumbai) Bombay Municipality. The Goa authority, the British and the Portuguese are irrelevant.

The process has to be done in Mumbai, not Goa. What i need to know is what is the process?
