Rectification deed

Dear All,

i am a new member to this site,

i found a lot of people who can study and help to find a solution to my problem in here, so i am posting this to get a help from one of you.

i am an NRI working in nigeria, i purchased a property in chennai by nov 2010 and registered with pallavaram registrar office, by mistakenly my flat number was typed incorrect in the sale deed and subsecuently we registered with out noticing it with a full registration fees applied by the registrar.. when it came out we corrected with a rectification deed to the same registrar and registered  with the predescribed fees.

now i received a notice from the registrar office mentioning that i am owing registration fees equivelant to the fees of the original registration.

when i enquired they said that the rectification deed demands the equivilant amount of original registration. i was shocked to see such a notice. and i feel so unfare to pay double amount.

this letter was delivered to me a week ago. mentioning to full fill this will be taken a legal action.

right now i am in nigeria. i dont have a chance for me to come and attend the problem before november 2012.

please any one who can guide me what is the next step that i should take.

here is my mail id g_ravikumar@rediffmail.com

all ur advise are highly anticipated.

thanks and regards,

Ravi kumar.
