Extended limitation period for consumer complaints

I have a query related to consumer dispute related to unfair trade practice by a service provider. If the cause of action arose in July of 2020, then can we file consumer complaint in 2023 in view of Supreme Court's order wherein the period from 15th March 2020 to 28th February 2022 shall stand excluded for the purposes of limitation as may be prescribed under any general or special laws in respect of all judicial or quasi-judicial proceeding.

Can consumer complaint be filed in 2023 for a cause of action that occurred in July 2020?

PLEASE GUIDE.

Regards,
VISHAL.

This exemption was given for the cases where cause of action that arose before the exempted limitation period that began on 15th March 2020.

Your cases do not fall within that specified period, hence it is doubtful that your complaint wiould be entertained because it is barred by limitation as on this date.

No, S.C had granted exemption to file cases in which limitaion  expiring from 15 March 2020 to 28 Feb 2022 and not before and after the said period. In your case limitation period to file consumer complaint expired on July 2022 so now it is barred by law of limitation.
