issue of legal notice

We had carried out a recruitement of industrial labours in Apr 2009. Later when the appointment letter was issued the sevice conditions had changed as intimated by audit authorities. As per appointment letter the appointment was temporary and could be terminated in case of change in service conditions. Based on above a termination letter was issued to the individuals. Now they have served legal notice challenging the termination and asking for compensation. Please advise.

Reply to the notice. As per your question it seems that  you had informed the labourers regardingthe  conditions.  Issue the reply notice with the facts which you wre informed them while appointing them.
