Lender alter the promissory note and threatening us

My father had helped one of my uncle in getting a loan of 30,000 and had signed on the promising note in his name. He didn't sign just as a guarantor but as if he is taking the loan. The lender was aware of the fact that the loan is actually taken by my uncle. And now my uncle could not repay it on time and this lender in turn altered the notary by adding 5 in front of the 30,000. He now made the notary to look like 5,30,000 and is continuously sending the notices through court at our home.

Please do let me know if it is actually possible to alter the promising notary so easily? Will the amount be not written in words? Can the notary is accepted if just the lending amount is specified in digits saying 5,30,000. I didn't see the notary yet and my father didn't get copy of that.

Need a proper guidance in getting out of this issue. Thanks.

It seems that lender is private person and not the bank.

Yes you can contest the case and can come out.
