SC slams DSP for shielding rapists

New Delhi: The Supreme Court came down heavily on a deputy superintendent of police for shielding three rapists who kidnapped and gangraped a minor. The DSP fabricated a document, purportedly a panchnama, to claim that the victim had consensual s*x with one of the accused and that there was no rape. “The sequence of events in clear terms demonstrates the sinister and diabolical role played by the police, in particular by DSP Joginder Singh, to sabotage the entire prosecution in order to protect the accused for obvious reasons,” an SC bench said, while dismissing the appeal of three rapists—one of them named Jaswanth Singh—who kidnapped the girl and gangraped her in Punjab’s Talwani Rai village in 1989. unfortunately on various occasions SC and HCs have come heavily upon investigating agencies but there has been no improvement.

Indian Police is more like licensed to shield criminals....In India the police lacks accountability, the investigating techniques are outdated and a lot of things are done behind the curtain thus no transparency in the system.

there needs to be a strong political will for a massive change, but these politicians are also dependent upon police wahlas.
