ACB or CBI.

The A.C.B. deals with three types of cases, viz (1) Trap Cases (2) Disproportionate Assets (D.P.A.) and (3) Cases of criminal misconduct causing loss to government and obtaining pecuniary advantage to herself/himself by misusing powers or abusing position.

Question: (So what does Trap Cases & Disproportionate Assets (D.P.A.) means)

Also who is higher ACB or CBI. I know both are different & both have different powers but which will prevail or which will override to whom in terms of powers.

Basically ACB is a wing of State police while CBI is a Central Govt. Wing. Complaints of corruption against a State Govt employee has to be dealt with by ACB whereas CBI deals with complaint against Central Govt employees in general. A trap case is wherein an employee is caught while accepting bribe. The word Trap is self explanatory. Disproportionate assets case is one in which it is alleged that a person has amassed wealth in excess by means otherwise than the known sources of his income.

Sir so can i come to a conclusion that if the matter is related with the corruption against a State Govt employee than only ACB has the jurisidiction & Powers the CBI canno't interfer in it in anyhow. & if the matter is related with the corruption against a Central Govt employee than only CBI has the jurisidction & powers ACB cannot interfer it.

Wong assumption:-

ACB has jurisdiction over all central/state Govt employees.

SBI has jurisdiction if the State Govt passes resolution to that effect or if the corruption is committed jointly by central state employee.

Surprising but true. Even local thana has jurisdiction in corruption matters of all central/state employees an the IO cannot be below the level of DSP.
