(Querist) 24 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
Hi Experts,
Is there any difference between maintenance and alimony? Or they are one and same thing.
Since counsellor in women cell told me that your wife can't claim maintenance as she is working, but she can claim Alimony.

Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 25 December 2010
No they are the same thing. Maintenance is used n 12 crpc proceeding whereas the word alimony is used in matrimonial proceeding u/s 24 of HMA.
