16 years old credit card debt

Debt incurred in Singapore in the year 1997. Its a charge card. No acknowledgement of debt afterwards. Now the card issuer wants to recover. Card holder is in India. What would be the limitation?

If you had genuinely utilised the funds then talk to them for an amicable settlement once you are convinced with the amount first take a confirmation mail and letter from them and then you could settle them.So that you could have peaceful trips in future.

The advise of expert Mr. Narasimma seems to be purposeful. The author, in case of frequent traveler to Singapore, may adopt this measure as advised.

but move carefully under legal advise you may not end up reviving the limitation and company may then be able to file suit.

As Mr.Sudhir Kumar rightly advised, any move from your side may revive the limitation period of time-barred debt.
Examine the claim of the Card issuer and if you have utilized the card for the amount mentioned therein and their charges are reasonable, you should pay the debt and wash-off. Otherwise maintain silence.

Agree with the experts, though the debt is time barred and that to of a foreign Company. You can proceed to settle without reviving the liability. act on the advise of Sudhir Kumar ji.

The claim is indeed a time barred one and hence nothing to worry.
However if you feel pangs of morality then do make the repayment.
