1. It is IPC 498a and not CrPC 498a
2. It is compoundable in the state of AP only.
3. What remarks you need, defeats me.

It is non compoundable but now High Courts do compound a Quash basis compromise between the complainant and the accused.

1 This has been clarified many times before.
2, Of course it is S. 498A of IPC.
3. It is not compoundable except in A.P.
4. It is not sunject to plea bargaining as under S. 265A Cr.P.C.it " does not apply where such offence ....has been committed against a woman."
5. Courts have resorted to quashing the criminal proceedings under Cr PC where the parties have compromised to live together again or go for divorce by mutual consent.

498A IPC IS NOT COMPOUNDABLE;
MAJORITY OF WIFE GIVE NEGATIVE EVIDENCE AND 99% CASES FAILS
ACCUSED ARE ACQUITTED 99%
SO DO NOT WORRY AT ALL
ALL 498 CASES [99%] PROVED FALSE.

It is strictly not compoundable, except in the State of Andhra Pradesh, but generally courts seem to be liberal while dealing which such cases.
