About demand draft

In 2016 October i had applied for my MBA degree certificate in Mysore University with all the papers including a dd of amount 8000 and i speed posted it through India Post. (have the acknowledge slip) . Inspite of the delay in receiving my certificate i callled thr concerned person in University to know my status.. Almost taking 9 months they are telling they haven't received my application along with dd..
Being 9 months i understood my dd would be cancelled after 3 months.. I have its Xerox copy.. Can i contact my bank in refunding the amount with the DD copy?
Hoping for the best advice from all the legends.. Thanks in advance

Please approach the Bank and make a written application.They will find out from the system that the draft is paid or still unpaid.As the draft is reported lost they may ask you to execute an indemnity Bond holding the bank indemnified should there be any claim in future.After these formalities Bank after confirming that you are the rightful applicant who purchased the draft will credit the money into your account or issue a banker's cheque in case you donot have an account with them. You can seek information from RTI to expedite your degree process. Parallelly inform Bank about the oral response given about non receipt by beneficiary and ask for confirmation about remittance (or) seek information under RTI with Bank as they are duty bound to respond within 1 month. If not paid then you can ask for refund and reprocess.

Firstly of all I express my sincere thanks to everyone who advised me in this situation.. All per all your guidance i approahed the bank and got the confirmation.. With the bank's confirmation i approached the University and they agreed of my DD. All i need to send all the xerox copies of dd and application and they will start my degree processes within two days
