About obc - ncl for nri at gulf

(Querist) 23 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
Hello Experts, Greetings. Is a son or daughter of a NRI parent eligible for OBC - NCL for IITJEE /NIT admission? . My main concern is about Non- creamy layer . The income of the parent in India is less than Rs. 6 Lakh per annum only.

The father also does not belong to a class I or class II officer in Gulf.

Please clarify.
Thank you in advance.

The criteria is usually explained in prospectus and website and reference to Govt. Notifications be made. Study it carefully and check with admission helpline.

Thank you for your reply. I checked clearly in the prospectus and nowhere else the details are given clearly for the non- creamy layer status. The following link gives the govt memorandum of Non- creamy layer status.

http://www.ncbc.nic.in/Writereaddata/dopteng.pdf

Nowhere else , it is written the eligibility details for children of Non residential Indians.
I am not able to understand the underlying criteria to identify , if my son is eligible for Non - creamy layer status or not as per this memorandum.

If you dont find a mention about the exemptions to NRI in the said reservations, it can be construed that there are no reservation available to NRI category, however, try your hand in it, if it is accepted by the authorities go ahead or if it is rejected stating the reasons, you may decide accordingly about further course of action.
