It is always open to the party make such applications. But it is for the Court to decide the plea in its discretion.

If evidence has not been closed i.e., before passing a judgment you may approach the Court u/O XVIII Rule 17 CPC for additional evidences which are vital and essential for proper adjudication of suit.
It would be advisable to consult a local senior lawyer with relevant documents/case file for better appreciation and guidance.
