SIR,I'M AN ADVOCATE PRACTICING SINCE TWO YEARS, I'VE GOT A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ON MY NAME,WHICH WILL BE COMPLETED IN TWO YEARS. SHOULD I SURRENDER MY LICENSE, IF YES, BEFORE WHICH AUTHORITY AND AFTER TWO YEARS IF I WISH TO PRACTICE AGAIN ,DID I'VE TO APPLY FOR A FRESH LIC. AND WHAT ARE THE OTHER CONSEQUENCES CAN I FACE?PLEASE REPLY IN DETAIL,IT'S URGENT.

You should have surrendered/suspended the membership before starting the project, however, better late than never, you surrender your enrollment immediately to the bar council under whom you are registered, if you wish to practise again you can re-enroll after completion of the project. Further you have not mentioned the constitution of the business, if it is a partnership you can be a non working partner or if it is a company a non executive director however, if it is a proprietary business, then you need to surrender your enrollment.
