(Querist) 05 January 2013 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

I lost my phone and the police station has asked for an affidavit to register an FIR, Pls let me know the cost of the affidavit as the Gurgaon court I have got different rates ranging from INR 100- INR 200.

Thanx

Rs. 10 (Ten) stamp paper for affidavit and Rs. 10/- on typing on it and Rs. 10 for notary for his attestation are required in Gurgaon for this purpose thus a total cost of Rs. 30/- (Rupees Thirty only) is required.

In Maharashtra, Mumbai Stamp Paper for Affidavit is Rs. 100/- and Notary usually charge Rs. 100 to 150 , and average Professional chg of Advocate or even typist ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 150/- Totalling Rs. 350/- [ As against Gurgaon Rs. 30/-]

Over and above, Police extract Rs. 200-Rs. 500/- to file FIR and issue it to you ,
Otherwise "chakkar pe chakkar" and person is harassed.

Raj Kumarji, I m surprised Gurgaon is so cheap!!! Nearest hotel to Gurgaon Court ,Ramda, I visited, charged Rs. 5000/-per day for residence!!

*Shroff Sir! Gurgaon is part of my state Haryana and throughout Haryana, the cost of affidavit is as described by me otherwise Gurgaon is no cheap city. it is very costlier. I also do practice there.

Mr. Makkad is right in his view point and calculation...but keeping in view the Gurgaon culture, Rs. 100-200 expense on such a thing is not higher side :P

otherwise, its absurd on the part of police to ask for affidavit in theft cases.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 05 January 2013
One may do expenses over and above as per his whims and wishes to any extent and even police is ready to take the amount to any extent but the cost of affidavit is same as I told.
Kiran Kumar (Expert) 05 January 2013
yes the actual cost is just to the extent Mr. Makkad said...but not everyone is honest like Mr. Makkad :)

no comments for police, everyone knows everything about them :)

costs for it differ in all states.
