for rs 7,000 goint to consumer forum is not worth it . it will take more than2 years foryour case to be decided .
if you have a saving account pass book and you have updated it request bank to clarify on what basis rs 7, 000 has been placed on hold .
request bank to credit your account as you have not withdrawn any money on 6/6/10. if no action taken wre to bank ombudsman

PL.GO TO BR. AND SEE THE MANAGER WITH A REQUEST TO SHOW YOU THE WITHWRAWAL SLIP BY WHICH THE MONEY IS WITHDRAWN.YOU MUST CONVENIENCE THEM THAT THE WITHDRAWAL IS NOT SIGNED BY YOU.THEN YOU CAN GET THE MONEY BACK.

You can demand the copy of the withdrawal slip allegedly moved by you for the purpose of withdrawal of amount and tally your signature with specimen signature lying with bank and then make a proper ground of contest.
Matter is not the volume of amount but an injustice done with you. It can happen with any person. today this amount if rs. 7,000/- which tomorrow may be Rs. 7 crore. Bank should be vigilant in its working and evey customer for it is valuable.

First get ascertained how the withdrawal has taken place and there after take action. The main draw back is that Bank ombudsman are teeth tigers who sit idle and seldom take stringent actions, hence damages ,if any ,would be possible only via Forum.

Banking ombudsman has got various powers to go through the record of the bank and to settle the matter amicably.

if a visit to the bank has not given any positive yield so far,try Banking Ombudsman.
you may write to the grievance redressal cell of the bank initially, before approaching the ombudsman.
it is also possible the amount might have been genuinely/fraudulently withdrawn by any of your family members/friends.

Ombudsman would not help in this type of dispute.
You better file case under Consumer Protection Act.

I AGREE WITH VASANT VIEW.
ASK DOCUMENTS FROM BANK, THAT SHOWS YOUR WITHDRAWAL.
COMPLAINT FORGERY IN P.S. IF FORGED SIGN ON ANY SUCH DO, AND THEY WILL INVESTIGATE.
Banking Ombudsman ., i DID NOT HEAR SUCCESS STORY, ONLY FOR NAMESAKE, HELPING BANK MGM ONLY.
sIMILAR SIGNATURE IS NOT NEGLIGENCE OF bANKS, BANKS NOT LIABLE is shoching Apex court Judgement
