Learned experts,
Shall be grateful for your valuable advice on the following :
It is seen that public and private limited industries engage armed gunmen as their security guard through security service agencies. These gunmen are either retired army men or others having valid licence issued by District Magistrate under the Arms Act. These gunman then perform duty like accompanying employee of the industry carrying cash from bank, stand as security guard at the gate of the industry carrying the gun, etc. The understanding is that the licence issued to individual is for their self defence and not for working in industry as gunman.
1. Is this understanding correct?
2. Can a security services agency or an industry engage such licenced gunmen as employees?
3. Can these gunmen legally permitted to use their gun for defense for protecting others?
4. What is the name of law/rule applicable in this regard?
5. What are the law/rule which permits an industry to engage a person as gunman?
