Can i get acknowledgement of fir after filing case against somebody

Dear sir,

If I file a case against somebody by hand written complaint to police station.

In return will police give any acknowledgment like FIR Number or case number to the complainent.

Also please differentiate between cognizable and non cognizable offence.

@ Chiranjeevi,
File a complaint against your father or mother, brother, sister or any one close to your heart and get an off hand experience,whether the police gives some acknowledgement, receipt or any thing else.
I fully agree with the opinion and advise of expert Mr. Devajyoti Barman, being an academic query, which is not entertained on this platform, it is advisable to consult your teacher or tutor or a local lawyer or SHO of the police station of your area to teach to the difference between congizable and non-cognizable offence.
However, know about the rules of posting query on this platform, just think before posting such silly and stupid query before the experts.
