While in some States like Gujarat, there is a law prohibiting purchase of agricultural land by non-agriculturalist, there is no such a law in Kerala presently and as such your client can purchase the agricultural land in his name. If necessary, he may be advised to contact any local Advocates dealing the such matters in the place where the property is located, so as to conveniently complete the transactions.

if he has any doubt, obtain a non encumbrance certificate before registration.

In Kerala, there are no rules forbidding the purchase of agricultural land.

Any resident Indian can purchase agricultural land in Kerala. Restrictions are there, if you want to convert the said land for a different purpose. Welcome to Kerala.
