Can someone work on sudent's visa or get and internship?

Hi
I am HR in an organization. Just have a query .. a student has applied for an internship and we feel she can contribute to our work as well. But need to clarify can she work / do an internship( paid / unpaid) while she is on student's visa.
Please suggest.

on variation of condition one can work on student visa. i.e. 20 hours a week or during vacations etc. if there is no conditions on visa then he/she has to approach the nearest consulate and get it done.

Is there any condition specified in the student visa regarding work. Rules and visa conditions are to be seen in reference to the county where she want to work.
