An evidence remains evidence even if acquired by illegal means.

However why would you resort to recording in say : court and govt offices?

Your own counsel in court and irrefutable witnesses can also be an option.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 18 December 2016
You have no right to record the court proceedings.

At the same time, you can record the govt office proceedings and produce the same as evidence. It is accepted as a valid evidence.
