Car parking

(Querist) 29 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
Hi,
I own a garage in my co op. housing society in Mumbai. As i have 2 cars, i park one of the cars inside the garage and the other in the building compound.
In addition to other society charges, i pay 1 car parking charge, and garage maintenance charge.
Now the society is asking me to pay 2 car parking charges in addition to the garage maintenance charge. I am not using society space for parking my second car, and hence i believe that i am not entitled to pay parking charge for my second car (especially given that i pay garage maintenance charge).
Can i be adviced on whether i am doing the right thing?

if society wants to charge you for parking in garage whether any resolution has been passed in AGM laying down charges to be paid by members for parking . make an application to society secretary and request him to produce copy of resolution on basis of which you are being charged for garage .

If expenses against 2 car space are being demanded then definitely you would be entitled for space for 2 cars legally. Do and get facility if available otherwise your approach is accurate.

Thank you everyone. I will find out whether any bye law relating to this has been passed or not. If it has not been passed yet, then can the society pass it even when i am opposing it?

Yes. Just go for a gentlemen agreement. That if he provide place for second house mean you can pay for second car also.

it would be a resolution in AGM would be passed by majority vote . if majority of members are agreeable your opposition wont make any differnce
