Today I faced an interesting question from a person who belongs to Scheduled Caste community. He said ‘he benefited with SC certificate’. Why their caste is not included in his Indian Passport even though there is no caste significance in foregin countries. Passport is a multi purpose document used in our country for identification purpose.

PASSPORT IS A DOCUMENT ISSUED UNDER PASSPORT ACT, USED FOR THE TRAVELING TO OUTSIDE INDIA,WILL THE CASTE IN THE PASSPORT MAY NOT HAVE ANY SIGNIFICANCE IN FOREIGN COUNTRY?.
BUT PASSPORT ALSO USED AS MULTIPURPOSE DOC IN INDIA IN KYC NORMS,I.D AND ADDRESS PROOF BY E.C.AND OTHER DEPT. HERE U CAN HAVE SOME USAGE IN CAST AS A COLUMN OF PASSPORT.

Mr. PJANARDHANA REDDY rightly said Passport is used for traveling outside India, the cast in the Passport may not have any significance in the foreign country, so it is not included in Indian Passport.

it is a document which authorises whn with valid visa to travel outside india. it tells abt the nationality of the holder. and in the world at large the caste has no significance at all so what benefit one will get if anything at all if it is included in the passport n there are other documents like caste certificate which are used for taking benefit of caste so i see no point in inclusion of this thins in passport
