Cbi inquiry is going on., will it effect on passport renewal.

Sir/Madam,
A complaint (FIR) is been lodged against me in CBI, and they are investigating the case. Meanwhile my passport is been expired, can I apply it for renewal, as no charge-sheet has been filed in court till now and no proceedings have been started.

Even if a criminal case is pending against a person,the passport office can't revoke his passport.A passport can be impounded only in appropriate cases where prima facie is mentioned in the chargesheet.

chargesheet is not there but FIR is there.

This is with reference to ‘Other Details’ section in the passport application form.
The question is Have you ever been charged with criminal proceedings or any arrest warrant/summon pending before a court of India?
How the above question to be answered as ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in my case, complaint (FIR) is been lodged against me in CBI, and they are investigating the case and no charge-sheet has been filed in court till now and no proceedings have been started.

As you say that" the case is under investigation ", it shall be highly desirable to give full details without any concealment of any kind
