Can some one help me with the process to be followed to change my name to original name after divorce. In my case divorce has been done.i have the decree.need to know the process

Do you mean to say 'surname"?
You can make an affidavit and do paper publication.

Yes but it differs state to state.

hi Shilpa,
Depends whether you officially changed your name after marriage? If you did so, then the same procedure has to be followed again.
However, if it was just a change of how people call you, then you can well revert to your maiden surname once again.

Well advised by expert Mr.Kapoor.
Had come with the specific reasons, the experts would have advised you better. But for the sake of declaration that you are separate from the husband, affidavit and paper publication is sufficient.

I had not changed my name officially after marriage.so as I understand mr. Kapoor I jst need to fo a affidavit ond get it published .no form needs to be filled.

One thing I forgot to mention on my daughters birth certificate my surname is my husbands surname

Yes, it can only be changes with consent of your husband.

Surname of children can be changed with the consent of both husband and wife.

I agree, the surnames of the daughters can not be changed w/o the consent of the husband till they become major.
Also, why would you want to change their surnames and have surname of someone else except biological father.

The sirname of the daughters can be changed with the mutual understanding of the parents.

unless your name was officially changed by you or your husband, in official records after marriage, no need for any change now.
local advocate can help in filing an affidavit and paper ad.
but if you have changed the name after marriage in passport, ration card, driving licence,pan card,emp.records/trade licence etc.. if any .now you need to undo at all of these places..but first step starts with local advocate where affid.& paper ad.be done.
of your daughter ,wait till her being a major.

I go with expert opinion of Mr. RV Rao on the subject. Like if you have not changed the surname officially after marriage, in my opinion, you may discontinue using his surname immediately and revert to your own surname, which itself can solve the issues.
