Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 09 September 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear sir, I'm 22 yrs old from chennai tamilnadu. I have a problem in my birth certificate with my parents name where else its been changed officially after 5yrs of my birth in the year of 1994 through government gazette and paper ads as my fathers name: victor abraham and mothers name: saral victor abraham as new names in every documents .

But still in my birth certificate my parents old names are there. its very hectic to face passport office now since they don't accept it different names.

when we approached contonment board of st. thomas mount in chennai they said it cannot be changed. so its difficult forme in getting passport. where the passport office requires the birth certificate cleared with everything..

can u please guide me the way that i shoud go with.. thank you..

regards.

With this sort of background, it is not enough if you simply fill up the Passport Application form.

In fact, before filling up any such Application Form, you have to go and meet the PRO (Public Relation Officer) or any other higher Officer like Assistant Passport Officer etc., show your birth certificate, the Gazette Notification through which your parent's names had been changed (this will show that the parents name indicated in your birth certificate was subsequently changed to some other name through gazette), and how to fill up the column regarding your parents name. They will surely guide you. Upon such guidance and attaching documents as they require, you will be able to successfully obtain a Passport. At this stage, IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO GET THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE ALTERED BY YOU, By incorporating the changed name of your parents.
Therefore, instead of meeting only the counter-clerks, you have to go and meet higher officers to get solution to your problem.

There is no law for changing parents name in birth certificates. Use subsequent Gazatte Notification along-with your birth certificate, which both if produced jointly shall end your problem otherwise there is no legal solution to your problem.

Am also agree with mr.makkad sir.. Where ever you can supply your certificates along with the gazate notification.. Its will be considered. Even if they denied mean just go with a writ petition to direct the authority to consider your issue.

Only when there is a mistake in the birth certificate you can correct it.

But, you can not change the name in the birth certificate.

But, this is not at all a problem for getting a passport. You produce the gazette notification for change of name.
