Mr. Kumar Krishan, in India before independance, the English ruler established three Supreme courts, at Madras, Mumbai and Calcutta by special permission from the Queen of Great Britan. After Independance, these three Supreme courts were changed to Highcourts with some special powers. Thats why we call those three Highcourts as Chartered Highcourts
