Cheated by travel operator

(Querist) 29 October 2011 This query is : Resolved 
I have booked a ticket from A to B place from travel agent. At the time of scheduled departure from Place A, the Bus was cancelled without informing me or arranging any alternate accommodation, the said bus office was also closed. I have launched a police complain at Place A police stn.It is case of private Bus operator.

What can be further be done for such failure of service from bus operator.

You can file a consumer complaint against service provider and can claim a compensation.

issue legal notice then file complaint before consumer forum for deficiency of service . howver please note that it may take some time for your complain to be disposed of in consumer forum and you will have to attend courts on said dates

Since bus office was closed. So, first go to the travel agent's office, who book your ticket and asked him other address of bus operator, then follow as advised(supra) by learned experts.

Its a case fit for Cosumer court where you can file application and ask for damages against the Bus operator.

The extent of damages/compensation depends on the facts on case to case basis. a complainant can seek all the monetary losses incurred by him due to deficiency in service and compensation for harassment and mental agony caused to him, and interest and litigation expenses also.

The losses you incurred to gather with damages for harassment and agony caused to you,serve notice ,though legally not required but always desirable ;and do not spare the agent who also charged his fees from you and he is equally liable to you.

Write a letter to get the same operator for refund, and if there is no response, file case in consumer court.

Shonee question here is not of Refund, its the harassment and agony caused when you are in middle of night having checked out from hotel ,having no place to stay & no where to go & all your plan & schedule going haywire.
