Cibil defaulter

(Querist) 22 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,
In Year between 2006 and 2009 i lend 2 credit cards and 2 personal loans. But i could not repay all on time and i settled out 2 personal loans and one credit card before year 2012.My name was in cibil defaulter list so in 2014 i also paid the waiver amount of 2 loans and one credit card which was given to me as settled discount.
Can you please tell me when my name will be removed from cibil defaulter list , and how i can increase my credit score.
SAINATH DEVALLA (Expert) 22 March 2015
Once U enter cibil defaulter list it will be there for a period of 8 years from the date of default.U will come out of cibil only if U pay the entire loan or credit card amount along with penalty. UR name will continue if U go for a settlement and waiver of penalty.

Take up with the bank and ask them to inform the CIBIL to delete your name from defaulters list as you have paid the entire money.
arvind chamoli (Querist) 23 March 2015
Ok..after this how can i improve my credit score
SAINATH DEVALLA (Expert) 23 March 2015
Total repayment letter will be given by the bank only when U clear the entire liability( including penalty),Then only UR name can be removed from cibil.Settlement of loan involves waiver of part of interest and other penalties.

Pay your loan EMIs regularly in a timely manner to maintain a clean credit history: .

2. It is highly advisable to make full payments on your credit card instead of just the minimum payment.

It takes you a longer time to build your credit history with a loan as compared to a credit card as these loans are usually for a longer tenure whereas a regular payment of your credit card bills can help you start building a good credit score as you keep on making the regular payments.

If you have been issued a credit card but you have not used it very frequently or the utilize credit limit has been very low, then this would affect your credit score in a positive way as unused credit cards actually imply that you are financially secure.

avoid becoming a a guarantor in a loan as any default would lower the quality of your credit score.

Sir, as i am a defaulter and already paid all amounts so i do not have any existing loan and credit card...now to improve credit score.....i should have a credit card...is there any bank in India who provides credit cards to defaulters on some term and conditions

Removal of name from defaulters list depends upon clearance by the respective bankers and advice by them to the CIBIL. However, clearance is normally not given in the cases of settlement on waiver of interest/ penalty, etc.

Better approach the concerned bank/ credit card company and insist them to get your name removed from the defaulters list.
