Citations/judgments are always submitted at the time of arguments and they are never part of pleadings.

What we submit at the time of final argument or hearing stage is called Written Arguments or argument note. The note can include citations which we rely on.

Some courts allow you to briefly present the essential points and submit your written arguments but some do not allow both. Your written argument note should be filed just before concluding your final arguments in the court. Later you cannot submit.

It should invariably include the other party’s arguments in brief and your take on them as well. Otherwise such a document would not serve much useful purpose.

If you prepare written arguments in its intended form and you have a strong case, it would be easier for the judge to make some editing in your argument note and issue the judgement effortlessly. Argument note should be prepared in such a manner.

Please keep it in mind that there would be logical connection from your plaint to your argument notes to the judgement, if you have good skills in preparing them. Preparing them properly is an art and a great skill. A law commission report is also there on the topic.
