Citizenship of minor child

(Querist) 06 March 2018 This query is : Resolved
Hi ,

I am talking about situation where both the parents are India Citizen including Minor Child (Who has been born in India) , Now I (Father) want to take citizenship of Australia alone and not for my Child and wife.
However in Citizenship Act 1955 it is mentioned that any minor child will also lose Citizenship which in this case is interpreted as my Child will become stateless ??

What will be the Citizenship of my Child If I alone renounce my Citizenship since I want to have him Indian Citizenship only and how India lwa handles such cases based on Citizenship act 1955.

Regards,

Child born in India and mother remaining Indian citizen the citizenship of the child will be that of India.
In any case the choice to remain Indian citizen or change to the citizenship of the father of the child shall be with father till the child attain age of majority, namely 18 years. The child if so desire to renounce the Indian citizenship after attaining age of majority that he can till then he shall be Indian citizen by virtue of his birth here in India.
Not a good idea for going alone for Australian citizenship rather getting whole family citizenship of Australia and going for OCI for complete Family is best option.
My daughter, son in law and two children are all Australian with OCI for Indian connection.
