Civil contempt

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 15 December 2011 This query is : Resolved
What is limitation under section 20 of contempt of courts act?

a) Filing of an application within one year?

b)issuing show cause notice within one year?

c)or filing of application within one year starting from the date of the order?

I am confused.
Can court issue show cause notice to the respondents after 3 yrs from the date of filing application?

20. Limitation for actions for contempt. No court shall initiate any proceedings for contempt, either on its own motion or otherwise, after the expiry of a period of one year from the date on which the contempt is alleged to have been committed.

Section itself is explanatory.

Yes it is date of cause of action and not the date of order.

No need to further clarify.
