S. 23A permits making a counter-claim by the respondent in a divorce or seperation proceeding for the same remedies. Yes, you can do that. The petitioner's claim and the respondent's claim and record will be clubbed together.

When we have a right we can enforce it through law suit or petition. In addition if the opposite party itself has sought some relief by a law suit or petition,we can not only defend that suit or petition but can also seek our desired reliefs by a counter claim in the same very proceedings without filing any fresh law suit or petition.
section23A of Hindu Marriage Act recognizes this right of respondent/defendant.

Hence when such a divorce petition comes you can make counter claim reliefs along with your written statement paying prescribed court fees.
