My Father who was working in IOCL as an OO-2
expired this month. I was given the opportunity to apply for Compassionate Appointment, Grade 'C' and 'D'.
I have done my Graduation in Computer Application [3years] from IGNOU, New Delhi.
IOCL is rejecting my degree as it is not full time.
But the form that i was provided to fill for compassionate appointment nowhere states that the degree should be full time[image attached].
The question that i want to raise is:
Does same recruitment rules* applies when appointing a candidate on compassionate ground ?
[*In general IOCL appoints only full time courses.]

Apart from filing a writ petition in high court, you have no other option left.

Compensate appointment is not a right, if provided you should avail the opportunity. After entering the service and confirmation, you can fight for your right as IGNOU degrees are well acceptable. You may get the benefit from the date of appointment as the association may also be helping you.

Thanks to all.
But I'snt there a rule/provision which says that if the dependent doesn't meet the minimum qualification for appointment he/she can be appointed as a trainee with a payband of 4,440-7,440 and is given a time period to complete the qualification for the said post.

As I have mentioned in the light of Supreme Court decision Umesh Kumar Nagpal [(1994) 4 SCC 138]compensatory appointment is not a right. Better first enter the organization and claim your rights later.

There is misconception about the correspondence degree,I suppose. If written communication has been forwarded to this effect, you can file a writ for direction.
