Dear sir/mam,
My father was a lecturer in govt inter college and got retired on 31 March 2017.10 years ago,my father filled a case in Allahabad High Court regarding his promotion.After so many years our case has not finalized.The lawyer that we hired,has not done anything to case and has taken the fees already.Now the condition is that if we call him to know the status of our case,he always says that your case is finalized,only judge's signature is left and demand more money to put the case in front of judge.One day he even started abusing us and said if we ever called him again he'll never finalize our case.please help us what should we do now

File a complaint of professional misconduct against him with the Bar Council of your State or India under section 35 of Advocate's Act with requisite fee. You can also file a case before the consumer forum and demand damages caused to you showing deficient services or unfair practice but be cautious because mere allegation would not do. You have to be specific with statistics and proof. Your father can also appear in person before the court and place his bad experiences before the court. Bad people are always there every where so it does not mean that all are similar. Choose an advocate who is respected by the Bench.

You can file a complaint with Bar Council if the lawyer had been less than professional. First of all, obtain copy of the daily order from the Registry of the High Court.

Although the experts have advised rightly, but in my opinion, it is not merely a case of the lawyer being less than professional, but a case of breach of trust, cheating, blackmailing, extracting money and even criminal conspiracy on the part of the said lawyer. Such type of lawyers should not be spared merely by filing complaint with the Bar Council of State, bur should also be tried in the competent court of law for debarring them for life from further legal practice. Such type of lawyers can only be treated as a slur on the lawyers profession.

Of course, I agree with the views of Mr. Jigyasu to some extent, but still detailed discussion of the case history is desirable to arrive at some purposeful opinion for appropriate guidance. No doubt such type of greedy professional must get some lesson for misuse of their professional position.

Record such demands and abuses.
If only judge's signature are left then what is to be done by the lawyer for which fee is being demanded and is to be paid?
How can this lawyer block signature of judge?
How can this lawyer block signature of judge, if fee is not paid?

Move a complaint to consumer fora for deficiency of service besides a complaint before UP Bar Council, I agree with the advise of experts.
However, I have all my doubts about "some" truth in the statement made by author.

@Dr.Vashista, Sir, no one on this forum comes with clean hands so your doubts are more or less genuine. In fact I have found that visitors who put their queries here first get the advice from their advocates then they cross verify it at this forum and after that discuss the matter in the light of the answers given by the experts to prove to their advocates that they are not fools so that they may not be befooled by their advocates. But every lawyer has his own strategy. It does not work in all cases.
