There is no specific provision to amend complaint in Consumer Protection Act but if it is necessary to amend the complaint then provisions of Civil Procedure Code can be invoked.

CPC is applicable only to a limited extent as provided in the Act. Otherwise it is not applicable. But you can amend the complaint with permission of the Forum.

In Consumer cases fora and commissions are not bound to follow CPC or Law very strictly. The welfare and benefit of the consumer is top priority. The SC has opined to eschew procedural aspects and strict proof and evidence. The essence of the complaint should be aimed at. Amendment in plaint can be made at any stage if the same does not change the face of the plaint or affect the party in a way that the other party cannot be compensated in term of money. Otherwise amendment can be made even at first, second appellate level and even at the level of the SC.
